It is well known that after-school programs not only provide a safe and supportive environment for students, whether they are considered at risk or simply seeking enrichment opportunities but they also deliver measurable benefits. Research has shown that after-school programs can improve academic achievement, problem-solving skills, social skills, confidence, sense of belonging, and leadership. These are the very qualities that help shape tomorrow’s productive citizens and community leaders.

That is why Automotive Education Connection has launched and will be hosting Rookie Season Motorsport Club!

The club is open to students enrolled in the Columbia Area Career Center’s automotive, broadcasting, and marketing programs. Together, students gain hands-on enrichment opportunities, collaborate with industry partners, and work as a team to bring unique projects to life.

Our 2024–2026 projects include two exciting builds:

• A 2001 Pontiac Firebird that will be transformed into a competitive autocross car.

• A 2013 BMW 335i with the N55 engine, which students will tear down, rebuild, and tune for performance.

• Design & Build Team – engineering, fabricating, and assembling the car, developing concepts, visual identity, and creative direction.

• Broadcasting & Marketing Team – managing promotion, documenting progress through media, telling the project’s story, and raising funds

The teams must collaborate across disciplines to ensure the project is built, funded, and shared with the community. Once complete, students will host a public showcase event where their work is presented to industry professionals and community members alike.
